I'm very pleased to be an official artist ambassador for Derwent. My journey with Derwent began in early 2009 when I entered an open competition to provide artwork for the newly re-packaged Derwent Artist coloured pencil range. Already a fan of the pencils, I was very pleased to have my artwork chosen. Since 1936, there has been a picture of Ashness Bridge, Keswick in Cumbria on the packaging of Derwent's "flagship" range of coloured pencils. Derwent (also known as the Cumberland Pencil Co.) is the only UK manufacturer of artists quality pencils and, although the product range is now greatly expanded, their coloured and graphite pencils are known all over the world for quality and consistency.
My win lead to articles in local and national publications and invitations to write articles on coloured pencil techniques. I have demonstrated and lead workshops at the famous Pencil Museum on the site of the original Derwent factory in Keswick. I have demonstrated and lead workshops featuring many other Derwent products since then.
I still use the Derwent Artist range of pencils in my own work and have added their more recent Procolour range to my regular palette. I was pleased to be a featured demonstrator when the Procolour range was introduced to the public at Patchings Art Festival in 2017.
